History
The JAZZ CLUB in Florence was founded in 1979 and is now an historical place, mentioned in many important guide books.
In its more than 25 years of activity, thousands of musicians of every age and nationality have appeared on its stage, in regular concerts and also in the course of the legendary Tuesday Jam Sessions. Some examples: Peter Weller, the actor known for Robocop who is also a fine trumpet player, and dancer-singer Leroy Johnson, star from the TV series “Fame” in the 80s. The JAZZ CLUB has also helped many talented newcomers to try their wings before getting famous.
Thanks to owner Vincenzo Ricchi, the ambience of the club is similar to that of a French caveau, where you can get not only good music, but also fine wine, drinks and snacks.
Concerts by local artists alternate with special events featuring musicians well known not only in Italy but all around the world (Joe Diorio, Gianni Basso, Renato Sellani, Rudy Migliardi, Marco Tamburini, Danilo Rea, Massimo Moriconi, Sandro Gibellini, Barbara Casini, Stefano Bollani, just to mention some names).
The music styles are varied and comprise traditional and experimental jazz but also Cuban, Latin jazz, funk or blues.
The weekly live sessions are as many as five, from Tuesday to Saturday. The club is open from the beginning of September until the end of June. You have to be a member of the Jazz Club. This is easy and cheap: you can buy a membership card, valid for 12 months directly at the entrance, at any moment.
For table bookings, call 335 6146115 (Vincenzo Ricchi) or, after 9 p.m, directly to the Jazz Club, 055-2479700.
